Auckland is a city in New Zealand situated on the North Island. It is the largest and most populous urban area in the country. It lies between Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean on the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. It was settled by Maori in 1350 and had rich fertile land. Tourists come to this beautiful and lively city and use car rental in order to get around in style.
Trams and railway lines helped in the rapid expansion of Auckland in the early 20th century. The Auckland Volcanic Field has produced 50 volcanoes in the form of cones, lakes, lagoons, island, and depressions. The individual volcanoes are all considered extinct but the field is just dormant. The most recent and by far the largest volcano, Rangitoto Island, were formed during the last 1000 years. Its eruptions destroyed the Maori settlements on neighbouring Motutapu Island around 700 years ago.

It is a beautiful isthmus which attracts thousands of visitors each week. This city is home to many cultures. It has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world.
Auckland is often referred to as the “City of Sails” as the harbour is dotted with a number of yachts. Auckland Town Hall and the Aotea Centre host a number of conferences and cultural events such as theatre, kapa haka, and opera. Auckland also has a professional symphonic ensemble in the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. Some of the popular swimming beaches are Mission Bay, Devonport, and Takapuna, and the popular surf spots are Piha and Muriwai. Auckland Art Gallery is considered to be the home of the visual arts in New Zealand and has a collection of over 14,000 artefacts. Auckland Domain is one of the largest parks in the city located near to Auckland CBD and offers a stunning view of Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Islands. Some of the smaller parks include Albert Park, Myers Park, Western Park and Victoria Park. It is a beautiful city with a lot of places to visit.
